We Know, This Looks Aweful

Why Does This Happen?

Because you've created an entirely new thing (whoop!) on the internet that has never been shared before, Facebook needs to go and find all the metadata and list it somewhere.

Metadata is the information that is needed to pull up the preview. In other words, the photo, the headline, and the little text preview.

We give Facebook all this information in a very clean format. They however sometimes need a second to register this information.

How to Fix It

This is a little bit tedious, but should take less than a minute.

Basically you have to refresh the page and try again until the preview comes up.

So refresh, paste link back in, try again until the preview appears.

This normally works in 2-3 tries, but we've had to command+f and command+v a few more times than that.

I Did That. Still No Preview.

That's fixable too.

So if you didn't make the image you used as banner photo, or you didn't have a banner photo, we don't have any image to send to Facebook for the preview.

It's easily fixed though. In the editor, find the Settings button on the bottom right. If there is no image where it says Main Image press on Choose Image where you can either choose an existing photo or upload a new one.

Can I Update What the Preview Shows?

Yup. Just go to the Facebook tool that flushes the Facebook cache. If you don't know what that means, it just means the Facebook robots recheck all the metadata information. You know, the image and the headline and the little text preview.

Just click on this link: Flush FB Cache and it'll take you straight there. Once you've done that it should look something like this.
